A woman who works with her hands is a LABORER; a woman who works with her hands and head, a CRAFTSMAN; but a woman who works with her hands, her head and her heart is an ARTIST. ~ St. Francis of Assisi

Bow Tie Tuesday

So at work we started this still thing Bow Tie Tuesday.

Only the admin ladies can play.  There are guys at work but there is a reason they cant play and thats a good enough explanation LOL

Here is a pic of us the first Bow tie Tuesday

Thats me in the center of course.  All Bowties are done by J.Govan Designs.  I have a link to her information my other blog which can be found here   Jacquetta is the one with glasses and the bun on her head.  Diana looks like a chip n doll and I was not the only one who said it either LOL

Yes I know I could just share her links here but its a shameless plug for my other blog ha ha

So I was watching youtube and saw that HGTV had a fathers day bow tie no sew style.  I was telling jq that I watched it and she said that is how she got started so I said to myself why not give it a whirl...

The link to the video is on my other blog... I know I could share it here but once again shameless plug for my new blog

(just in case you needed it again LOL)

i dragged out my dread glue gun, fabric, ruler, scissors and ruler and here is what I created...

eeeehhhhh it was alright  The band in the middle was tooo skinny so I says I will try one more time.

Blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah

It was worse the first one.  I tucked and twisted and pulled and got glue strings all over the place.  Good news is I did not burn my fingers...

bad news, the dog was chewing on something so I had to go fuss at him in that process....

I lost my scissors

I lost my middle fabric piece (never did find it and had to cut another one that is when I realized I lost my scissors and the ruler and the marker)

as I mentioned above lost my marker

Lost my ruler

all that work and I got a blah... Totally disappointed.

I was not quite ready to go to bed yet so I said to myself.. Karen why not try the denim fabric.

I took JQ advice on the second fold of the bow I did not fold it over like the video suggested in the middle I cut off 2 inches so my measurements was 8x5 and I folded the ends about 1.5 inches.

When I folded the it the second time I put glue on the corners in the back.  They were not staying down.

The fabric was much stiffer so the fold was easier to form...

Here is my third attempt... I am quite proud of it.... if I do say so myself

I glued a pin on the back of it, instead of the part that wraps around the neck.

It has been decided to save it for next week!
